Boots and Cats - Strudel style
Strudel is a livecoding platform in the Tidal Cycles family of music generation tools. Strudel is essentially a port of Tidal from Haskell to Javascript.
For me it has a couple of nice attributes: (1) It runs in the browser - there's nothing to install, no startup costs - anyone can be running Strudel in 10 seconds. That makes it great for learning, teaching and sharing. (2) Javascript's procedural style fits my brain better than Haskell.
Here's an example of using Strudel to make a simple drum beat. This is Strudel running in your browser. You can edit the code in place. Go ahead and change that '4' to an '8', press control-enter to hear what it sounds like. Now you are livecoding!
